INAMORATA - review

Inamorata, (CD), Charlee Brooks and David Arkenstone, Green Hill, 2015. 2015, $8.79.

Product Details

I enjoyed Inamorata. The CD includes several Sarah Brightman covers, but Charlee Brooks isn’t a copy; she is unique, and an outstanding artist in her own right with an incredible voice.
When I meditate, I prefer a CD without lyrics, but I found several cuts on Inamorata excellent for my moving meditations; I flow effortlessly with the melody and Charlee’s soothing voice. I also use it as I work; it helps me focus and keeps me grounded—though I often felt myself soaring on the fabulous melodies.
Music is provided by David Arkenstone, a three-time Grammy nominee some might recognize as composer on the World of Warcraft video game. The piano and orchestral scores are inspired and incredibly moving. I thoroughly enjoyed Game of Thrones, which I’m sure will enthrall many listeners and fans of the series. David Davidson’s incredible violin sent chills through me. (You’ll hear him again on Harem and Lullaby for Belina.)
Inamorata includes the theme song of the popular Downton Abbey: Did I Make The Most of Loving You?
As I listened to Inamorata, Charlee reminded me of Enya, Sara Brightman and Annie Lennox. Yes, her voice is that clear and haunting, but definitely with her own take.
Although I can’t recommend Inamorata as a meditation CD, I do recommend it as something to soothe frazzled nerves; it will take the listener on soaring flights of romance and peacefulness.
Listen to the samples on iTunes and I’m sure you’ll be as enraptured as I was. The samples will only tease, and you’ll want to own the entire CD.
