RUPERT'S TALES - MAKING MORE MAGICK

Rupert’s Tales – Making More Magick, Kyrja, Illustrated by Tonia Bennington Osborn, Schiffer Publishing, Ltd, Atglen, PA, 2016, 56pp, $16.99.
Rupert's Tales: Making More Magick
My children are thrilled that another Rupert book has been released. They enjoy the rhymes as the little bunny learns about magick.
The children are back, collecting items for their altars, and Rupert and his bunny friend Roxanne are watching from the grove of trees atop their favorite hill. As we know from previous books, Rupert has watched the children learn magick from their parents, so he’s able to answer some of Roxanne’s questions and help her learn as he also teaches my children.
Sibel the Spinner, a spider known as “Grandmother Spinner”, teaches Rupert and Roxanne about altars, how people use them and what they put on them.
Some of Rupert’s other forest friends arrive, and as they enjoy the rising moon and twinkling stars, they’re joined by a Lady who teaches them about the moon, explaining that it has no light of its own and reflects the sun. My children easily grasped the lesson on how the moon revolves around the Earth, which in turn revolves around the sun. Rupert, Roxanne and their friends ask questions about the phases of the moon—Maiden, Mother and Crone—and how people use those phases when doing magick.
This is another wonderful Rupert book with rhymes to help children learn about Magick. Having Rupert and his friends ask questions gets the lessons across without being dry and boring. And, as always, the illustrations are very helpful. The book is geared for children 5-8 years old, but older ones love it, too. After reading each Rupert book, we discuss the lessons and get into more detail—and then eagerly await the next book in the series.
The only thing I found inaccurate was the line “Between the Earth and the sun, is our moon, and also stars of all kinds.” There are no stars between the Earth and sun. Other than that, I recommend Rupert’s Tales – Making More Magick to any parents who want to teach their children about magick.
