Around the world you’ll find many ways to keep demons and evil spirits─and sometimes just negative energies─away. We decided to compare notes and present some interesting “ward off evil” and “keep the good vibes” tips.
In parts of Spain, babies are put on a bed and a man dressed as a demon jumps over them to protect them from demons.
Boat owners in Malta paint eyes (usually blue) on the prows of their boats and on their cars to ward off the evil eye.
Many Greeks paint things (cars, houses, etc.) blue and white, the colors of the Greek flag, to keep the evil eye away.
Some people use the sound of wind chimes to change the atmosphere and keep negative energies at bay.
Evil is steered away from a new car by tying a red ribbon around the steering column. A container of salt and scissors are put in the glovebox. The scissors cut the evil eye, and if someone puts “the eye” on the car, they will have to stop and count the grains of salt before proceeding.
Before Native American healers do any healing work, they take a deep breath in through the nose and let it out through their mouth. They breathe like this several times and visualize themselves linked to Mother Earth and well grounded. Then they see the sun beaming down from above and encapsulating them in a cocoon of protection and healing energy.
Following a healing session, hands-on healers wash their hands under cool running water, visualizing the negative energies picked up during the healing swirling away down the drain.

Changing the atmosphere of a room/home can chase away negativity. This can be done with music (playing CDs, for example) or with wind chimes or a door harp.
Verses from religious texts or inspirational books can change the atmosphere. You can print them and frame them and hang them in your home or office.

I channel several entities and my guides and I've been told many times 'rituals get in the way of doing what's right' - now I used to be very OCD but that was so long ago. I know people like rituals and I incorporate very few into my practice preferring to keep healing simply about INTENT. I've also read other channels such as Abraham, Seth and come by the same information. It is a balance of knowing we are human and doing what is human and knowing we are spirit and knowing which one is the most important!
